FOLX CONSIDERS OUR MISSION TO BE FOUNDED ON TWO IMPORTANT CONCEPTS:
1) FOLX aims to promote the inclusion, visibility and empowerment of people from diverse backgrounds within the bleeding disorders community. This effort assists to empower those who are potentially marginalized by considering the invisible barriers that are created by race, sexuality, gender and other aspects of an individual’s personal identity.
2) When a bleeder defies expectations and uses their body toward physical success, we rightfully celebrate! FOLX is proud of those who dismantle bleeder stereotypes and we remain steadfast on the importance of physical activity + living healthy. However, we find physical success as the only “gold-medal” problematic given the range of complications that could deter physical goals (i.e., inhibitors) and the subsequent mental/emotional consequences of finding oneself physically limited.
IN MANY WAYS, WE FIND THE MANIFESTATION MOST SUITED TO ADDRESS THESE CONCEPTS CAN BE FOUND IN THE MANY TRIBUTARIES OF CREATIVE EXPRESSION.
FOLX wishes to support additional versions of success from arts & music to activism & ingenuity. This recognition is important in remaining diligently inclusive of individualized approaches to living with a bleeding disorder.
As a framework, the efforts described above create an opportunity that FOLX believes both individuals and the community at large will find beneficial to the bleeder experience. Together, through personal support, creative programming & educational outreach, we will lead a strengthened and expanded bleeding disorders community.
